I just returned from the ANCR presentation at the Piper conference in Minneapolis and it was impressive. I must confess that I was thinking about selling some shares recently, but not now. Believe me this company and the stock has a lot more room for appreciation. Ignore the short term picture here while the stock builds a base because there is more to come. So many posts now here and on yahoo deal with minute to minute, day to day flucuations of the price and as most of you already know it is not that important when you look at the future. Also just about all of the technical analysis is completely useless. I have been around the market for almost thirty years, traders come and go, the big money is made by long term holders who have a time frame of more than a week or month. A few points from the meeting: 1) The SUNW contract was won on technical merit and evaluation, all the players were there and ANCR won. SUNW indicated that they were doing so much for this emerging growth company that they wanted to share in the future, so the warrant deal was struck and the stock closed at $7.30 on the first day of serious negotiations. Also SUNW went over there manufacturing setup with a fine tooth comb and were satisfied that ANCR could well satisfy their needs, not only the 100 million but anything they needed in excess of that. 2)Ken pointed out all their wins and spent sometime explaining the recent one with Gates Arrow(Consan) 3) Ken stated he thought they were number 1 in technology but on par with the competition in terms of software. They thought at first that the customers would have their own software all ready to go but that was mistaken. Now they have a new focus on software and have improved all aspects of it. He indicated that they were late in entering the SAN market and underestimated customer demands, that a great asic was not enough. But now he believes they are a year to a year and a half ahead in asic technology and used the example of their new 16 port switch all on 1 chip which is extremely fast. I recognized some of the 35 people who attended this presentation and talked to some of them about their views of ANCR, was pleasantly surprised. With IBM, HP, EMC,CPQ etc. still out there the future looks bright. |
