I might look into the SCADA systems. A couple of the things that I have worked in the past 2 years were specifically to upgrade the SCADA systems for pipelines. Prior to my current job, I worked on the network for the California Department of Water Resources (they run the aquaducts). Just think, if the SCADA systems in the oil industry can't be fixed, what are the chances that a government run agency can fix it??? There are going to be a lot of pissed off and thirsty Los Angelenos on January 2nd (they will still be recovering from the hangovers on January 1). I should point out though that the DWR and the LA DWP have cleared their systems for Y2K, including the SCADA systems.

I may be whistling past the graveyard, but I still don't buy into the Y2K doom and gloom scenario.

Y2K Kit (what to buy):
Water (lots)
Food
Flashlights
Cellphone
Batteries (lots)
Diapers (lots)
Baby Food (lots)
Toilet Paper (lots)
Gasoline (lots)
Oil (lots)
Small nuclear generator (Note: send nuclear waste to Austin TX)
Guns (to protect from looters)
