David,

What makes you folks truly believe that ATT and the cable companies will spend Billions of dollars to upgrade their networks, take the investment risk that Case passed on and then let him ride for free?
Because you hope it will happen won't make it happen. I'm looking
forward to the day when Case buys a cable company and reverses the
"Open Access" blather. I'd like to see that spin.

Bottom line is that I can get broadband access through my local cable company, set my browser to www.aol.com and that's it. No @Home web page, my beloved AOL is always on, no dial-up, etc. The cable companies are BUILDING something. It costs. Someone must pay ot they stop building. FCC won't allow that. It is in the people's interest for them to bring broadband to peoples homes. AOL has chosen not to do that. The BOS's have chosen not to do that for 100 years. Now they will pay.

There are cracks in the hull as evidenced by:

1. Case running up and down Capitol Hill demanding cable welfare
then turning around and stating during analysts calls "broadband
is not really a big deal.
2. Two Senators from VA running up and down the hill with their bills, then stating that the fact that AOL is run out of VA has nothing to
do with the bills.
3. All the while cable broadband churn rates are next to ZERO. People love it and they leave for only one of two reasons, they either die or they move to an area not yet upgraded. How's AOL churn lately?

No offense but it appears that the conversation here centers around what the stock is going to do tomorrow and who got in 1/4 of a point lower. Remeber Rome?

Let me have it because if you prove to me that I'm wrong maybe I'll dump my ATHM and buy AOL. I just don't see it.
