The word "craze" or bubble refers not to the merit of the underlying
business, but to the public en masse bidding the prices of the stocks
involved beyond rationality. This is especially dangerous when
they do it on margin or otherwise borrow. Unlike previous
bubbles, credit cards are probably being used for this purpose.

You can see the phenomenon in the parabolic rise and the subsequent
decline from the peak so far.

The businesses involved in the previous bubbles went on to succeed; it
just took quite a few years until their actual earnings performance
caught up to the prices of their stocks. If the company was strong
enough to survive.

This is not the first time this has happened, and it surely will not
be the last.
