Re: Kennard's Remarks, a Remarkable Moment in American History
Hi Flo and Threaders,
This morning in Chicago we witnessed history being made. The government I grew up with that was so full of hubris that it decided to commit genocide half a globe away is finally doing something I can be proud of. It is deciding that the communications revolution that we all are part of is so beneficial and so benign that there is no need for intervention. Owen Panner are you paying attention? But, gentle readers, you inquire, what is this moron (me) going on about. Well, this:
fcc.gov
For a short time I considered placing the entire speech on this post so you would have to pay attention. Then I thought better of this and decided that those of you who were paying attention could just as easily link to the URL. And the rest of you, daytraders, hypsters and the miscellaneous clueless amongst us would be so thoroughly bored by now you would move on. This is a clue and a strong warning to those who do not want to participate in the future, get lost!
The most shocking thing about this 'little' speech and its ramifications is how hopelessly misrepresented it was in the white bread press. I do believe either 1) they are clueless, ELSE 2) they believe you are.... you choose....
You can read Aaron Pressman as FIRENZA suggests, or you can pay attention to what's the unfiltered real deal. Your choice, hey, it the Internet. And you get to decide.
Enjoy, or as my Dad put it, "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink."
Best, Ry |
