will reinstalling netscape again fix this? or is it an os prob that
netscape has no effect on? any help? suggestions?"

Hi Mark,

A couple of questions for you.

1) What hard drive is Communicator installed to?
2) Is it Windows 95 or Windows 98?

If it's Windows 98, I agree with PW's suggestion about the System file checker. It's solves quite a few problems and is a neat toy to play with.

Another option...if it Windows 98, going through the Windows 98 Setup again also solves many problems. Re-installing over a possibly corrupted OS using 98 is much better than doing the same thing using Windows 95.

Next thing...the majority of BSOD's in Windows 95/98 is third party software related, or driver problems. Just by what the VXD link says, I'd guess it has something to do with the swapfile paging through the protected mode hard drive controller driver. That's just a guess though.

Re-installing Netscape might not be a bad option, as I've rarely seen it screw up current settings. (always advisable to backup the current user settings just in case though).
