fyo - <Didn't they drop the voltage, though? This would lead to:
1. Lower power-consumption --> longer battery life (very important, IMHO)
2. Less heat generated --> less demanding packaging/motherboard/etc. requirements --> cheaper

Saints preserve us thank you! Also of note, there are customers out there for it. Certainly won't hurt the ol' ASP, whatever that may be :-).

This part (.18 Dixon) was never meant to demonstrate process performance. It was meant to demonstrate process capability and manufacturablity, and as an added benefit deliver a competitive product to the marketplace.
