Jimbo: So what R the CPQ shareholders supposed 2 do? There they are, out in the woods, all set to barbeque -- and the meat has turned on them. As that grim chart showed, the porker is down more than 50 percent and moving fast for such a big guy. Whew!
If U have a substantial holding -- and we know there are poor shellshocked owners with massive stakes now smoldering in ruins -- what should U do? Sell it all and eat a substantial loss? Hold and pray? Hold till there is a CEO "bounce" (which from the looks of it, when it comes sometime in the next century, will take the stock from 11 to 12)? I have been telling people over there to roll some of their holdings into semis. Take a tax loss and move into a sector that should see decent upward movement over the next couple of years. (K suggests I am pimping for the semis, but they don't need a pimp. Those beautiful gals are doing just fine on their own.)
Since CPQ shareholders appear to be suffering from severe post-traumatic stress and seem incapable of coming up with a strategy to make money, I think a humanitarian gesture is in order. Kind of like the Berlin Airlift. Any ideas? M2
PS Geez, when U think about it, those folks would do well to stash their money in some decent utes. At least get a decent dividend.
