That is truly a risky portfolio. One might ask why the fund has AWRE among its top ten holdings and not QCOM. Look at the downside risk of holding each of these stocks, and it's easy to conclude that AWRE is by far the riskier of the two. One might also ask why the fund owns Motorola, the traditional leader in wireless communications, instead of QCOM, the new leader (in terms of patented technology). Here again, the risk of owning a company that has to pay royalties, compared with a company that receives royalties, is something the fund managers have obviously not considered very well.
