I would take the United States in say, 1890, over the United States now as a POLITICAL model (please, no comments about the state of technology and medicine) over what we have now. Seems drugs were legal, there was no income tax etc. Less laws and less problems.

As far as minors, that's a straw man, since minors do not have adult rights.
