Paul, a little Fujitsu server info for you....

Yes Fujitsu is one of the very few other vendors that sell SPARC based systems. They still do. In fact they build their own SPARC processors that have some differences vs. those that TI builds for Sun. Fujitsu has added some additional features to support higher levels of RAS, but also add some cost. All the server hardware divisions report up to Mr. Miyazawa. The IA-based systems business is run by Mr. Kawakatsu and the Sparc systems business is run by Mr. Aoki.

Intel works very closely with Fujitsu and we're doing what we can to enable the IA-based side of their business. Of course we're also interested in their expertise with Solaris and we'd love to see them make Solaris on IA-based servers a bigger part of their business.

Meanwhile, every press release like the one you posted is welcomed.
