okay, so they can drift around the big ocean with their propellers cranked one way and then the other. let's all pat ourselves on the back! Los Angeles has been spared a live camera soundbyte from the cargo ship collision on the 6:00 news!

but trying to berth big bertha in modern port where all the coolies have gone home because they didn't get paid the 3 weeks before, might put a dent in that shiny tub and its proud y2k successful test...especially if the captain can't find his sextant and those damn charts that he misplaced 30 years ago. (say, matey!!! what's the name of that big star over there? NO, THAT ONE, BLIMEY LIMEY!!!)

oh, and who will off load that unwanted (& unpaid for because the buyer's letter of credit mysteriously expired and can't be found in Hong Kong?) pile tennis shoes (i have 4 pair already and probably can get by) and all that stereo equipment? (with no electricity, might i suggest a solar battery charger and an extra box of "AA" for your shirtpocket sized transistor radio from the 50s?)

pass the wine and sing it again. it's just the Y2K Dirge, or as my sister used to sing when i was a kid,

same song
second verse,
sounds like the first,
only this one's worse.
