mike...finally a voice of reason...thank you
the competitive factor as in "if somebody wins, then another must lose" would be a fatal mistake in the forward advancement of what dell has achieved. this has been my point to many on the thread, who lack real world understanding of business achievement required to blend and balance competition/supplier to a point where they are the same entity. our government discourages prosperity both in businesses and individuals. like businesses must work together in the form of cartels to further efficiencies and guarantee health of the world economies. negative competition benefits the buyer/consumer, but only in a price basis...it tends to harm the after sale ability to support one's product. in spite of my constant chiding of "mikey", it is directed to the thread to realize that "winners" and "losers" are bad for the economy..."mikey" knows that...but do his shareholders.
ceo's are forced in todays time to play games, justify their existence in three month intervals, unfortunately it is a game that must be played in order to maintain a healthy stock price. gates and grove have learned this, gerstner and armstrong excel, "mikey" has to play at and learn to "win" the "perception" game...for in this game the winners and losers are the stockholders.
i abhor the professional opinionators, but they exist, as does the twenty four hour news media that spins a harmless daily event into a froth. ten years ago, how many stayed glued to their tv in anticipation of a cpi report???? it is lunacy, but it is mild compared to what will be presented by the media in the future...grief and greed sells, it keeps people off balance, prosperity can be handled, easy to be happy, must look for something not to be happy...
all this to say, i appreciate the wisdom of one as you, who understands the intricacies of business....not like swatting flies, more like tuning a fine instrument! |
