<<Also I shouldn't judge the US for the way they spend their money, may it come from social security or not, ...>>

I am not a US citizen either, but since I work here, I pay every penny of the US tax like all other US citizen does (although I am not eligible for a lot of benefits, including unemployment benefit, etc.). The US congress has already told loud and clear, those billions of dollars for the spending in Kosovo are indeed from Social Security funds, as a lot of other government spending. If the gov. had separated the SS funds, there would not be any so-called budget surplus, and only budget deficit.

<<Can you tell me some typical example for the attitude of Chinese Americans to the Yugoslavia war before and after the Chinese Embassy bombing? >>

A lot of Chinese Students, when they just came to the US, they had good impression about the country in general. But after they stayed here for several years, after they listened day-in and day-out to the very biased report about China by the US media, they start to understand that a lot of people in this country are brain-wash about China without realizing it. And they also begin to wonder why the US always uses double standards on China. The conclusion for this is that the US wants to interfere China's domestic affair, and to detain China because they are afraid of a strong China. I remembered that it was in 1990 or so, when China suffered the most severe flood in its history, the US gov. (Bush was the president at that time) only gave $20,000 US dollars for the aid. That really woke up a lot of Chinese students here in the US.

Here are some sites that will give you some idea about the reaction of the Chinese community here in the US about the bombing in Yugoslavia. Some of them are Chinese, and some of them are English.

<<And how much may the weight of the Kosovo crisis in the Chinese government media have changed due to the start of the NATO bombing? Was it an important issue even before the Embassy incident or was it of minor importance to China?>>

Before the bombing of the Chinese Embassy, it was a minor important issue to China. As I said, China has enough internal problems to deal with. It is a big challenge just to feed those 1.2+ billion people with such a limited arable land, not to mention to increase their living standard. China is a very poor third world country, you seems just do not get it. It is a tremendous contribution to the world peace on China's part just to satisfy the Chinese people's basic needs.

<<I feel China would gain even more stature in Europe if its' influence on both countries could be used in a friendly but demanding way, useful to the human rights and political freedom of the Balkans' population.>>

One thing you do not seem to understand is that the reason that China can be good friends with both Yugoslavia and Albania is because China never interfere their internal affairs. A third country simply has NO RIGHT to demand what other countries should do about their internal ethnic conflict. This is one major principle in China's foreign policy. I also heard that some say China should put more pressure on North Korea, blah, blah... China will only make suggestion and will never do things like imperialist countries do to another country (like what the US did to those S. American countries), period. It is up to them whether they listen or not.
