Ibexx, thanks for the article on Compaq sticking with the winner. Part of it: _____________________________________________________________________ "Compaq, the world's largest maker of personal computers, expected to remain a close ally of Intel for up to 10 years or more, and was helping Intel develop a new generation of chips due by the end of the decade, Chief Executive Officer Eckhard Pfeiffer said." ______________________________________________________________________
Got to be Merced.
For those that are saying why does Intel need help in architecture, etc. for these chips down the road, for Pete's sake, why not get into alliances with companies like HP and Compaq. The development costs are getting to be upwards of $10 billion. Share it with a good systems house or two. Another benefit is that two of your biggest customers, HP and Compaq, should be happy with the design out of the chute. Then, you know all the other systems houses will start lining up.
