Only a fool would pay $300 more for a moderate improvement over 550 MHz K6-III ;)

Intel has already identified and trained a large group of buyers who fall in this category. AMD just needs some dancing Athlon bunnies. I suspect that they would be able to find a lot of volunteer bunnies up in San Francisco.
