Doc,

The Y2K issue seems to have caused some overreaction in certain sectors of the tech market. Analysts tend to paint with a very broad brush so when they analyze a company like SAP, who are considered an "enterprise software" provider... magically, any company that happens to sell enterprise software gets painted with that brush. PRGN is a great example of this overreaction.

In the case of SAP, this is a company that made all of its impressive revenue on the back of the Y2K problem, several years ago. They built a client server based financial application which was targeted at the aging mainframe based systems most companies relied on for their number crunching. They began educating the market place that Y2K was coming and needed to be reckoned with. The downside for SAP is that essentially, their target audience listened and is currently deploying SAP's solution. It's going to take different product families for SAP to get back to where they were. In the meantime, companies like Commerce One and Ariba are nipped at their toes on the ecommerce front, Itwo from the supply chain front and on and on and on...
