AMKR's recent 10-Q stated: ... However, average selling prices declined less in the first quarter of 1999 than the third and fourth quarter of 1998. As a result of competitive pressures and slow market conditions, the Company anticipates only moderate growth in packaging and test revenues during the second quarter of 1999. However, based on current non-binding customer demand forecasts, the Company expects a strong increase in demand beginning in the third quarter of 1999. The Company believes as market demand continues to increase the rate of average selling price erosion should continue to slow. The Company is currently making capital expenditures and investment in human resources to meet the expected increase in demand.
