That is correct. The GSR's are the "foundation' of the IP backbone. The MGX's are likely part of the "dial off-load" scenario that Sprint want's to use to "cap" their circuit switch investment. Sprint continue's to struggle with their Nortel based frame and ATM services and who knows maybe management will ultimately realize that the Nortel "mind share" need to be reconsidered to compete.

BTW, the ION premises to network interface will be based on DSL/ATM not IP. If the appliances are IP then they will terminate in the CPE device provided by Sprint (varies based on the type of customer).
