"GET LONG - OR BE WRONG"............................. It was the first shore leave he had had in over a month. But, before he saw the rest of Amsterdam - the young sailor needed some food. He wondered away from the dock to the market plaza. There, the first thing he saw was an elaborate stall selling onions. He grabbed a big one up and took a nice bite. Almost immediately he was seized by law officers. "But", he protested, "It was only an onion - and I was going to pay for it"...."Fool", came the reply. "You took a bite out of a 30,000 florin tulip bulb!" "It's off to gaol with you."
