They are an enigma when it comes to what they have accomplished.
But is that going to make money at the rate fast enough to warrant the price? We bought and have traded AOL with complete confidence. our basic assumption was that AOL would be utilized by everyone 'jumping' into the net. Their first tricycle. What happens when the training wheels are thrown away?

All very legitimate points.
I fired up one of those AOL carpet bombing disks *once*. Got the free subscription. Cancelled it. Why would anyone want a cruddy service like AOL when you have the web? I dont get it either.

But AOL does seem to "get it". The subscriber growth rate is immense. Acceptance of the internet as a part of life is still only in its infancy. And remember, the ones who are left are the least tech-savvy of them all.

A bet on AOL is still exactly that-- a bet. Maybe the "bubble" has burst and we wont reach the old highs for many years. But AOL is still the #1 recognized name. Some people still think AOL is the internet.

I of course have faith in ATHM's ability to grow even more than AOL can grow. Its a simple matter of scale.
