We have come a long way, or at least Wall Street has in understanding SNDK and the flash memory market, in that when IBM first announced the microdrive a year ago, SNDK's stock tanked. Now, when IBM announces the production of the microdrive, the stock doesn't even quiver, it even goes up.
One has to believe that the emergence of MMC for MP3 is the recent boost for SNDK. When I started following sndk in the spring of 1996, the product was digital cameras. Then I thought mobile phones would create a big demand for flash and MMC would be there for that. MP3 and music players did not cross my mind, and they are going to grow exponentially in the next year. Ain't innovation great???
