Blue, I think I am one of those women who would be more upset by a "spiritual" infidelity than by a purely "physical" infidelity. (Fortunately, this supposition of mine was never put to the test!) It would have been a big blow to my self image, of course, if my husband preferred some other woman's body to mine. But if he preferred another woman's soul, I would have been totally crushed, I am sure, because true intimacy is grounded on something other than/more than sex.

Sounds to me as if your brother-in-law may have found his "soul mate" --and it isn't your sister. If so, I'd say that is bad news for your sister, whether or not his relationship with the soul mate lady ever turns physical.
