While we are waiting, expect that the re-organisation will emphasise that COMPAQ is no longer primarily a boxmaker. Resources will be re-deployed to the high-end and services. The emphasis will be on profit, not revenues. Divisions will be merged, the corporate structure simplified. There will be further lay-offs.

The earlier re-organisation of distribution was planned under EP, but executed under Rosen or OCE (Offic of the CEO). Today's stuff is all OCE, as has been a lot previous re-organisation. You might wonder why we need a new CEO.

I strongly suspect that a new CEO is in the wings. They say they expect a new CFO by the end of the Summer but the new CFO is to be approved by the new CEO. These radical changes are setting the scene for a new CEO (or new inhabitants of the Office of CEO) to hit the ground running on appointment.
