Hi Monica:, I'm sure the intel boat will sail for a long time, but she may settle in the water some. Last August I pointed out to people on a intel thread that AMD was a threat, AMD was only selling at 10.25 then..she has since made a 4x comeback..but I got chewed out by intel bulls..for saying any thing about AMD.. Well here is another thing that Intel will have to deal with some where down the road, ( THE NEW CHEAP ALPHA CHIP) it's going to get NT support..and Gates is migrating to NT, belive it. The chip will give intel hell, it may take a year ot two..to gather market share but the chip is soon to be released..and when it does it will blow a pentium off the hinges, it's on the way. Please if any one wants to jump my case go look at it, and do some reserch first..before jumping. This is a real threat to Intels future..more than AMD, cirix was..or is, and I'm not long on AMD now. Nor an I long on DEC..as good as the chip is..marketing it will be another story, and intel really knows how to market things, no doubt that will make it hard for the alpha..but the kicker is GATES..he wants to push NT..and get in the server end..so he will support the alhpa, as a work station you would have to have a twin pentimum to keep up..I also think IBM made another mistake. I'm gone <G> Jim |
