Thanks, Steve. We have to learn accounting as well. However, I probably owe my NOL knowledge more to COO, where I have been an investor for years and the company turned quite profitable under new mgmt, after accumulating $200 million NOL's. It becomes an important issue to understand in that kind of situation, particularly since the company is a takeover candidate.

Note the response I got to my post from an alleged MBA/CPA.

You always wish you had more of the winners. My attitude on Xicor was colored a bit by not handling it right in the past. Also I regard my sources of info as outstanding -- which tends to mean I have too much info. That leads to a major risk for actuaries and perhaps CPA's, which is overanalysis of the trees and underfocus on the forest.

There are a number of things which are still not particularly attractive about this forest -- a very poor product development track record and nothing great clearly visible now, conceivably inadequate working capital (a tree), being a gnat in a field now populated by much larger companies with vastly more resources, and the insider buying situation we have discussed. I just could not bring myself to have the same kind of view as I have of our other company.
