Dairy Whip Tax-Deductible For Sex Workers

WELLINGTON (Reuters) - Sex toys such as bubble bath and dairy
whip are tax deductible for New Zealand prostitutes, The Evening Post
reported on Tuesday.

The newspaper dug a list of acceptable claims for sex workers out of
35,000 pages of documents filed by the Inland Revenue Department for a
parliamentary inquiry into whether tax inspectors are too tough.

Sex workers could also claim the cost of condoms, lubricants, gels,
oils, tissues, lingerie, costumes and see-through garments against their
income tax.

''Ordinary stockings are not tax deductible but patterned stockings
used for work are,'' the Post reported in a front page expose.

''It is acceptable for sex workers to describe their occupation as
contractor, consultant, commission agent or receptionist.''

New Zealand has strict tax secrecy laws which means that sex
workers can remain onside with tax inspectors without risk of criminal
prosecution for soliciting.
