Thu 17 Jun 99 News Release
Mr. Glenn Shevchenko reports
Major General's joint venture partner, Cameco Gold Inc., has reported that its recently completed drill program on the Despinassy property, Quebec, has extended the gold-bearing structure an additional 1.2 kilometres to the east. The gold system now has a total length of 3.7 kilometres and is still open in both directions.
The second drill program of 1999 consisted of seven holes (1,990 metres) in an area approximately 2.8 kilometres east of the previously reported ore-grade gold mineralization that was intersected in drill hole DES99-17 (see Stockwatch May 18, 1999). The program, which was designed to test for extensions of the favourable gold-bearing structures, included a five-hole fence across the flat, overburden-covered area, along with two holes on specific geophysical targets.
Two of the drill holes in the five-hole fence intersected altered deformation zones hosting gold-bearing quartz veins associated with porphyry intrusions. The significant gold intercepts are summarized below:
DRILL HOLE FROM - TO LENGTH GOLD
(m) (m) g/t

DES99-20 218.4-220.4 2.0 4.64
Including 219.0-220.4 1.4 6.41

DES99-21 93.8- 99.8 6.0 2.38
Including 93.8- 94.8 1.0 7.03
Including 98.8- 99.8 1.0 4.51

These results are considered highly encouraging as the five-hole drill fence was randomly selected near existing roads for easy access. At this time, drilling has been halted to allow for a complete reinterpretation of all results and data. A comprehensive report will be prepared in July, which will provide the basis for the next program. To assist in planning further drilling on the extensive gold-bearing structures, 400 soil/till samples were recently collected, which will be processed by enzyme leach or mobile metal ion determinations. These geochemical methods may assist in focussing drilling on stronger portions of these structures, which are buried under 10 to 15 metres of glacial till.
For the next phase, Cameco Gold Inc. is planning an aggressive drill program that will focus on favourable portions of this large gold-bearing system, which includes the ore-grade gold mineralization intersected in drill hole DES99-17.
