No, I believe it is an opinion. What has been used as an O/S in past systems design by exchanges or telecommunications providers, where those companies are moving now in their systems design, and how the O/S systems designers are addressing specific issues, can be tied to any number of factors relating to the particular OS platform and the particular application -- and making pronouncements about which O/S is superior and which is inferior, as if it were a "fact" and not an "opinion", without knowing the specific design parameters of a particular system, is kind of like a baseball manager stating as a fact that a particular pinch hitter would be the best choice when he has no idea who's on the mound, how his available choices have performed against that pitcher, who's on deck, and what the situation requires (a bunt or a home run).
Auric - Are you that expert in network operating systems and security devices and software design, and that knowledgeable abut the design of ATG's system, that you believe you can state as "factual" that NT is inferior as an O/S for this type of platform?? I personally doubt it -- in fact, I'll go out on a limb here, and say that I think your statements are out of context, pure conjecture and ultimately meaningless.
I'm sure NASDAQ and NYSE are happy with their UNIX platforms -- but I wonder exactly how and with what software they are designing their future electronic modules. I don't suppose you know what their future systems design architecture and requirements are (with precision)?? I didn't think so.
