If indeed NiMH is the better choice for Cell phones and laptops, Nickel Zinc is in a lot of trouble.
I think I can speak for almost all EV drivers when I say that range is the overwhelming most important factor in an electric vehicle battery. There in no chance that nickel Zinc will compete with NiMH on that score. Their most recent CLAIMS are that they can 50 percent better range than Lead acids.(They've yet to be manufactured ) while first generation NiMH already doubles the best Lead acids and are already in process of being replaced by Gen two NiMH at far better range. My understanding is that Nickel Zinc can not improve.
Cost is a factor but judging from the incredibly low price of Consumer NiMH cells made in volume, I believe that NiMH EV batteries once they have volume orders, will meet their announced goals.
Ken Baker has said they will even beat those goals.
