IAF hits enemy supply base-A stunning blow to militants. By Our Special Correspondent NEW DELHI, JUNE 17. In a stunning blow which could be a turning point in ''Operation Vijay,'' Mirage-2000 planes of the Indian Air Force have pulverised a key enemy supply base in the Batalik sector. The strikes have come on the eve of the meeting of the eight industrial countries. India hopes that at this meeting the G-8 would impress upon Pakistan to withdraw its armed intruders from the Indian side of the Line of Control (LoC). In two days of saturation bombing spearheaded by the Mirage- 2000, the 14,600 foot high Munthodhalo supply camp has been flattened. An estimated 150 Pakistani intruders and regulars have been killed. The camp was the logistics hub of the entire Batalik sector. Over 80 structures housing war material had been erected here. The bulk of the construction had taken place in the last fortnight as only 20-25 structures in this area existed around the end of May. In order to avoid detection, the makeshift buildings had been located on the extreme end of the rugged slopes. Numerous tracks connected them with the low lying area around.
