RE: <No, Intel never had an "official" policy to cram a technology down anyone's throats. That kind of stuff only gives fodder to people who love spreading anti-Intel FUD.>

Well, I can't take the time now to look it up but I believe that the only chip set that Intel has publicly supported for Coppermine is Camino although Barrett was quoted recently as saying the Intel has "options" for supporting sdrams IF they decide they want to. But if they don't decide to support 440 BX or i810e for Coppermine then can OEMs use them anyway? I'm asking this as a serious question. Can they use non-supported CPU-Chipset combos? Can they even buy them separately as in non-kitted? (Serious question no FUD intended.)

If the answers to my questions are No then this is a case of Intel cramming drdram down people's throats although you may prefer some kinder language. I'm predicting that Intel will take one or more of these "options" and provide good support for sdrams and announce it soon. This will be a set back for drdram since Rambus will have to compete with sdram for Coppermine systems. Who knows if the press will pick up on this at all or if they'll turn it into a feeding frenzy. And if it happens on a day like yesterday it may be lost in the shuffle and not even affect rmbs price. But I doubt it!
