Not to get into arguing over angels dancing on the head of a pin; however you are CORRECT in that the Effective date is usually (and in the reorg plan for GBFE is) 10 or 11 days after the confirmation date; however...if a security is on a listed exchange (NYSE, ASE, NASDAQ) trading is usually halted on the confirmation IF the common stock is to be cancelled; when it trades OTC I am sure they could trade the stock forever...but from a practical point of view the longest I have seen a stock trade was Discovery Zone which traded two days after the stock was cancelled before there were no longer quotes provided through the bulletin board system. In any event...the punch line is that there is always a "trading" opportunity....but a very dangerous game....like playing musical chairs and not being sure if you have a seat when the music stops!!
