Trey - true enough most electronic data interchange runs through a company's network. However Electronic Data
Interchange (capital EDI) refers to intercompany data exchange under International standards Edifacts and others.

This EDI is used for corporate purchase orders, advanced notice of goods to be shipped, invoice details,
notice of cash transfers, tax return data, etc, etc...

This is a large and growing segment of the IT market.
