It's just I have seen people obsess over 144 filings. Maybe it's the way I look at the glass as half full rather than half empty, but I think I see alot of 144s to sell and then when I check back months later, I don't see that many 4s.
I asked a guy in the business about it and he said alot, repeat alot, of insiders file the 144s so they will be in a position to sell, AT SOME GD POINT IN TIME IN THE FUTURE. To avoid the alleged SEC protections to us dumb investors, there's all kinds of paperwork, right? So when 144 stock comes off restriction, the filing in advance facilitates FUTURE selling.
Even when there are Form 4s reflecting sales, it doesn't mean that things are going to hell in a hand basket.. People sell for all kinds of reasons like maybe, just maybe, they need the money? home down payment? kids tuition? pull out a bit of their investment that they couldn't retrieve during the restricted period? Is it such a leap of faith to believe that, especially when the data clearly shows most don't turn into sales? When I get to the point that I assume that a 144 filing means the company is a scam then I should get out of the market altogether.
Rather, what does get me excited is when I see Insider buying. You, Joe C, GB and everyone can argue forever the various imports of 144s and form 4 sales, BUT MAKE NO FRIGGIN MISTAKE ABOUT IT,
There is absolutely, axiomatically, metaphysically, bet the pink slip to the dune buggy daddy, no doubt as to what Insider Buying means...fer sure
