AFA the UMC deal adding more value to ALSC than S3, it's true. ALSC
has 41.5M shares outstanding and S3 has about 50M (if I recall), so
S3 will realize only 80%/sh of the value ALSC shares get. If ALSC
gets $15/sh on the deal, then S3 gets only $12/sh. I don't know the
debt level of S3, off hand, but that also would be a drag on their
stock price. ALSC has no long term debt.
Why is S3 trading at a premium to ALSC? I often wonder about this.
They do serve different markets than ALSC, but I think the markets
ALSC has are good! Especially the low power, high speed memory and
the comm market + ?
It was nice to see the gain this afternoon. Now we wait for earnings!
The fall quarters are usually the best for semi's. HOLD YOUR SHARES,
the best is yet to come!
