>I have, I confess, a mild aversion to the South<
Why, and is not MD considered the “south” almost? (grin) I don't like southern weather very much (too hot and humid), and I utterly detest rednecks. But I love gentle southerners.
>…, so I have not been to Florida since I was six years old.<
Florida is an awful place. I sometimes visit Naples, I have a good friend on Marcos Island. I sometimes visit the Keys. For the most part, I avoid it like the dang plague.
>I keep promising to take my family to Orlando--- some day...<
Disney World. Ugh. We have not yet done that, but no doubt I will have to do it.
>My wife had to go to a convention in Miami Beach, and didn't like the town much (she liked Miami proper even less).<
Miami is dreadful. Absolutely dreadful. Coral Gables is nearby. It ain' bad (ain't good either).
>On the other hand, she once had to go on a business trip to Palm Beach, and liked what she saw well enough (it wasn't much, since she was mostly confined to a resort)...<
Yuck. I hate Palm Beach. Its heyday is long gone.
>I usually head for New York, as I will in July, with a side trip to the ocean. Tickets to "Cabaret" at Studio 54: have you seen the production?<
No. As I have said, I am not big on the NY beach areas. CA, Cabo, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and certain choice places in Europe are much better for that sort of thing. But other aspects of NY are great, much better than FL.
I even hate FL beaches. Murky, hot, water too warm. yuck. |
