In view of this information, are there any comments from this international thread on the fact that it was actually the former German foreign minister H.D. Genscher who first officialised the break-up of Yugoslavia by starting diplomatic exchange with Slovenia and Croatia long time ago in his time.
In my recollection things went like this: Both nowadays states claimed independence, no answer from anybody internationally for quite some time (maybe several weeks?), again news about independence claims, then Genscher sends diplomats, and only now, slowly, reluctantly, other Western Countrys followed up.
Was this well-done? Why did this person vanish so fast from politics after that?

MNI.
