Makes no sense to tender for shares at a less than market price. Maybe they want to drive price down. Sheesh

Homestake says IG Holdings trying for 1 pct stake

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., June 17 (Reuters) - International gold mining firm Homestake Mining Co . said on
Thursday that IG Holdings Inc. was making an unsolicited tender offer to buy up to 1 percent of its common
stock for $6.875 per share.

Homestake strongly recommended that shareholders do not tender their shares into this offer, saying the price was
substantially below prices on public stock exchanges and did not represent a fair value offer.

Homestake stock rose 12.5 cents to $7.937 a share in trading on the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday.
