JUN 18, 1999, M2 Communications - Compaq Computer Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) today announced the appointment of Werner Koepf as vice-president and general manager of Compaq Europe, Middle East & Africa, to lead the next phase of its growth and development across the region. Compaq also announced the retirement effective 30th June of Andreas Barth, senior vice-president and general manager of Compaq EMEA.
Mr Koepf was previously vice-president and managing director of the General Business Group responsible for managing Compaq's business activities across 11 European countries.
"I am delighted to accept the challenge of taking EMEA forward by aligning our organisation around the new global structure announced today and by assuring the continued growth of Compaq's operations in this region," said Mr Koepf.
"All of us at Compaq are grateful for Andreas Barth's leadership in EMEA," commented Benjamin M. Rosen, chairman and acting chief executive officer. "In his nearly 12 years with Compaq, Andreas has made an outstanding contribution to the corporation's growth and our position as the world personal computing leader. As a result, we have a strong company in EMEA and a solid foundation on which to build for the future."
Andreas Barth said: "Last year I announced my intention to retire once I had seen the Digital acquisition through. With the integration complete and the company realigning to improve execution, I believe it is the ideal time to hand over leadership to Werner Koepf."
Werner Koepf has been with Compaq for more than six years. Previously he spent four years as CEO and chairman of European Silicon Structures BV, and 22 years with Texas Instruments, where he became vice president of the company's European Semiconductor Group and vice president of its International Systems Division.
