<<Does anyone know of any CEO who has reorganized a company along the lines CPQ is reorganizing?>>

Steve Jobs.

Apple stock hadd dropped from $56 a share to about $12.
Market share dropped from 9 percent to 4.
Channel inventory congested at about 30 days.
The company had too many projects being developed without focus:
-ISP startup that turned into AOL
-Handheld PDA team members spun off to form Palm Computing
--Newton which finally started making money in 1997 got canned.
-Various OS directions that never got completed (over a billion $$ spent)
-Various hardware concepts that never got off the ground.
-etc.

Jobs' company NeXT Computing got taken over by Apple in 1996 and he engineered a reverse takeover that ousted CEO Gil Amelio who had brought him aboard.

Since then:
Apple stock currently around $46 expected to hit $50+ around time of MacWorld expo in July.
Marketshare in 11 percent range and growing (Japanese market estimated around 46 percent of new computer purchases)
Channel inventory reduced to about 3 days.
Reduced hardware line to 4 main products.
Consolidated OS line to 2 products.
Gained support of multimedia industry to adopt Quicktime as industry standard for MPEG audio-video format.
Has basically kept an iron fist of control in the company and times release of information to boost stock price in steps.
Does all this for a salary of $1 (one dollar) and maintains 1 share in Apple to his name.

He basically brought Apple back from the dead.
