Ahmed,

Kroger is a possibility. They recently closed on a merger with Fred Meyer, and that chain is similar to K-Mart. Safeway seems like a less likely candidate unless they want to get into the discount business. I can't imagine anybody paying $30 for K-Mart. The stock hasn't been over $28 in the past 15 years and it was only at 28 for a single month in 1992. If a merger does occur, I think it would happen between 20 and 23 and the low end of that range is most likely.
