My eyes are wide open.

Microsoft hasn't got the products to compete in the SP's so they're buying their way in. In return the only really real win they have are comittments to us MSN as the portal. The AT&T CE thing is mice-nuts since there is no margin in CE.

Anyway, is it CE Micrsoft is after or is it OSS? Can Microsoft execute on OSS? Has Microsoft articulated their vision? Could it be MSN competing against traditional media companies?

I simply think any analysis that draws the conclusion that Microsoft is #1 for vision is seriously flawed. Microsoft does not have a well targeted well articualted vision - period. Again, ask one of their employees if they could recite the Microsoft vision for you. Then if they do see if you can sanitize this against Microsoft activities - they will not mesh I supsect.
