God and religion are not the same thing either, Chuzz. I believe that God created an evolving universe. I don't disbelieve anything that modern science has discovered, from the Big Bang to evolution. I don't have a clue where God came from, but if there is a God, God was here long before there was anything alive in the countless eons after the Big Bang. God was here when our sun separated from the rest of the star matter. God was here when the planets formed. God was here when the earth was molten rock. God was here when there was no air, or water. God was here when the first living being formed in the primordial chemical soup. And God was here when the first catfish walked out of the ocean onto dry land.

And God will be here after the earth is cold and barren, and after the sun goes nova, and after all the matter in this solar system implodes into a black hole, or whatever happens after the planets fall back into the sun and the sun goes out.

I don't think God really cares much at all about candles, or statues, or music, that's something we humans do to heighten our consciousness. Human beings do the best we can with limited knowledge. The failings of our human religions are well-known, but I think we are improving with time.
