Allen or others:

I've been doing some reading about the i20 Spec being used in the embedded pc market, as a means of extending the limited ports of the PCI protocol. It seems to be an added bonus of i20, and helps to address one of the problems that vendors have been having making the shift from VME to PCI protocol in the embedded PC arena.

Not being an engineer, I was wondering if someone could give a more detailed explanation of the battle between VME and PCI, and exactly what are the markets for embedded PC's. Seems like if we can get a handle on this, we could revise estimates for the number of i960 chips that are likely to be sold.

Regards,

Jason Cogan
