This is just my opinion. I do think that most engineers in the valley work for money, whether that's salary, bonus, or stock option. This is more true with the talented individuals, and it is also the cause for high turn over rate in the valley. My last job was at a very good location, and the company even provided office for everyone. But it couldn't keep any hard working employee. Especially after seeing others whom went to startups that were bought by Cisco and Broadcom. Comfort doesn't stand much of a chance when the potential of a few million dollars is the alternative.
