Whether you like it or not our country was founded with the principle of One nation under God. I can prove to you that this God was not just any god , but the only Almighty God, and freedom of religion was founded in order to protect people as you that do not believe, not to strip it away from those that do.
Tell me if you can, I was in the...oh lets say tenth grade some 30 years ago. Most everyone in the town where I lived had guns. Shotguns, deer rifles, pistols, war momento's, and plenty of them...so anyway can you guess how many kids were shot that year in my school? Morality and respect does not come from some far out abstract idea. It comes from being taught right and wrong and discipline. And yes the 10 commandments is a good starting place. It gives the kids some solid to stand on, and has proved in the past to be a big part of why this country was great.
I do not believe that remarks such as "why not quotes from the kama sutra" , is a controlled disciplined answer, cause we could just as well say "why not load up ALL our kids with weapons and send them to school, that way they can protect themselves from the others that have guns"
