That's my take on the situation, too, Tom. It is so sad to see the loveliness evaporate out of SI. Corporate money wanting, and it started with the sale to GNET.
It's not a criticism, very few of us wouldn't do the same thing. And most likely more money will be made this way than by remaining spiritually clean and sober.
Still it is sad. Does anyone else feel that the quality of posts, generally, has declined since the sale to GNET? Does anyone else feel less a part of a community? And does anyone feel that almost any broker other than Datek (with all the ethical questions, false promises and total absence of the personal touch) would have been a better partner?
BTW, I have been a Datek customer for 2 1/2 years. They have been radically instrumental in re-shaping the brokerage industry, but they're not the SI types, I think.
Sad, sad, sad. Maybe when their non-compete's expire, Brad and Jeff et al will start Quartz Investor. We can hope.
I still wear my 4 SI shirts, but they are fading.........
