Well, as I said, I'm no expert (I'm barely a novice). But the answers given, by all, seem to confirm the point that it is a matter of opinion and involves issues that none of the posters have addressed, such as how many trades are expected on a daily basis - if 100,000 trades are made daily, each having not less than 5,000 shares, which is the minimum order size VTS will accept, that's 500,000,000 shares A DAY. Tell you what, I'll spring for the UNIX system if that happens, since I will be a billionaire at that point.

AJ - I agree with two things in particular you said today - overall volume diminution in the securities markets will adversely affect all systems that rely on volumes to make money - but since it is not yet known how much interest there will be in ATG's VTS system from the get go, it is hard to say what the effect will be, and if it will be more or less pronounced with a system like VTS, which caters almost exclusively to institutions, and works best for process driven traders, like index funds and the like. Second, I agree that "shorts here will use any angle to discredit ASTN and take it down further" -- I do know that by now and am unfettered by it, but it does not mean I have to act like everything they say is gospel when I know it isn't, or to let them get away with nonsense.

Doc - congrats on covering at 6 (actually, high 6's, right?). Still, notwithstanding your incredibly good timing, and your obvious experience in the IT field, please forgive me if I don't accept one liners like "I am an IT expert and NT bytes . . . " or words substantially to that effect, without at least asking if you know anything about VTS' system architecture before you make all-knowing pronouncements about it. I admit I'm no expert, but I think I was asking some pretty fair and intelligent questions that deserve a response. Indeed, I even received some pretty intelligent answers, even if I'm not sure I agree with them in their entirety. I was not being snotty. I just prefer to call facts facts and opinions opinions. And I suspect the designers of ATG's VWAP systems know a little bit about I/T also, and have the capacity to make judgments that do not necessarily agree with the gospel according to Dr. Suess. In fact, I know they do - just take look at their resumes.
