The Waiting

Being deprived of my freedom;
I could handle that
And the horrors of my addiction
Served to make me strong
The disease that eats away at me-
An inconvenience
All these things I take
With silent acceptance
But to be denied your warmth and comfort
By so many months and miles
After that provident connection
To endure this separation
Fills my soul with a rage
I've never known
Still I wait
I hope
I love
I long
And when each day is over
My soul rages on
